A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF JOANNE TISDALE RAINSFORD OF EDGEFIELD AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, Joanne Tisdale Rainsford died June 29, 1997, at the age of forty-nine; and

Whereas, Mrs. Rainsford was a dynamic and active member of the community; she was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgefield; she was an educator, and she held the position of President of Edgefield County Communications, Inc., overseeing the business and production processes of The Citizen News of Edgefield; in 1985 she became managing editor of The Citizen News; she served for six years as President of the Edgefield County Historical Society and was project manager of the 1992 South Carolina Humanities Council Planning Grant for the Old Edgefield Pottery Project, the 1992 South Carolina Archives and History Historical Preservation Grant for Magnolia Dale House Museum, and the 1993 Old Law Building Restoration projects; and

Whereas, she contributed generously and freely of her time, talents, energy, and resources to many civic causes; she was respected, admired, and loved throughout her community and will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Joanne Tisdale Rainsford of Edgefield and extends sympathy to her family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Rainsford's family.
