A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO GERALDINE CLAWSON FOR THE SELFLESS DEDICATION AND COUNTLESS HOURS SHE HAS VOLUNTEERED TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF THOSE LESS FORTUNATE.

Whereas, Geraldine Clawson was a dedicated member of the nursing staff prior to her retirement from the Chester County Hospital; and

Whereas, Geraldine Clawson felt the call of God to tend to the needs of those less fortunate through volunteer service; and

Whereas, Geraldine Clawson more than ten years ago founded The Turning Point in order to provide spiritual nourishment that could change the lives of male alcoholics and drug abusers; and

Whereas, Geraldine Clawson has been the recipient of both the prestigious Jefferson Pilot Award for Public Service in 1993 and the

Delta Sigma Phi Sorority Community Service Award in 1994; and

Whereas, The Turning Point of Chester has grown to include a 60-day treatment program for male alcoholics and drug abusers, as well as a women's shelter and program for abused or homeless women; and

Whereas, countless citizens have benefited from the emergency food bank offered through The Turning Point Ministries. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the appreciation of the Members of the South Carolina General Assembly is extended to Geraldine Clawson for the selfless dedication and countless hours she has volunteered to improve the lives of those less fortunate.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Geraldine Clawson and The Turning Point Ministries.
