A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO GARY TAYLOR OF LEXINGTON ON HIS ELECTION AS 1998 RURITAN NATIONAL PRESIDENT.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were pleased to learn that Mr. Gary Taylor of Lexington was elected 1998 Ruritan National President at the organization's national convention in Orlando, Florida; and

Whereas, Ruritan, a voluntary community service organization with 1,273 civic clubs and more than 34,000 members in twenty-five states, has in its seventy-year history dedicated itself and its members to creating a better understanding among people, and through volunteer community service, making America's communities a better place to live and work; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor is a member of many years' standing of the Pineview Ruritan Club that serves the communities of Lexington and West Columbia and has previously served for a three-year term as Ruritan National Director; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor is only the fifth South Carolinian to lead the organization; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might recognize and congratulate Mr. Gary Taylor for this distinction and wish for him a successful and fulfilling year of service leading this outstanding group. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their congratulations to Mr. Gary Taylor of Lexington on his election as 1998 Ruritan National President.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Gary Taylor.
