(A166, R117, S178)

A JOINT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF TWO SURPLUS NATIONAL GUARD ARMORIES, ONE TO THE TOWN OF PACOLET MILLS AND ONE TO THE TOWN OF CHESTERFIELD AND THE COUNTY OF CHESTERFIELD.

Whereas, the National Guard Armory located at 980 Sunny Acres Road in the Town of Pacolet Mills is currently vacant; and

Whereas, the State Military Department has relocated the National Guard unit previously headquartered at this armory and has declared this property surplus to its current needs; and

Whereas, the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code authorize such transfers when the political subdivision has donated real property for a replacement site; and

Whereas, a replacement site is neither an issue nor necessary because there are no National Guard units stationed in Pacolet Mills and because the military department is unable to forecast a need for such a site. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Ownership transferred

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code, the State Budget and Control Board is authorized to transfer ownership to the Town of Pacolet Mills of the National Guard Armory located at 980 Sunny Acres Road in the Town of Pacolet Mills.

Ownership transferred

SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 25-1-1660 of the 1976 Code, the State Budget and Control Board is authorized to transfer ownership to the Town of Chesterfield and the county of Chesterfield of the National Guard Armory located at 207 Watson Street in the Town of Chesterfield.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Approved the 10th day of June, 1997.
