A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. HOLLAND CARTER BRELAND OF WEST COLUMBIA UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Holland Carter Breland of West Columbia on January 26, 1997; and

Whereas, he was a native of South Carolina, a graduate of Walterboro High School, and earned degrees from Wofford College and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Carter Breland was a widely respected educator who served as principal at Bells Elementary School in Colleton County and George I. Pair Elementary School in West Columbia. He also served as the first personnel director of Lexington County School District 2 from which he retired in 1989; and

Whereas, he was above all a devoted husband to his lovely wife, and a good father to his three children; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to his widow, other family members, and friends upon the death of this truly fine man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Holland Carter Breland of West Columbia upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to

his widow, Mrs. Nancy Jo Goodwin Breland.
