A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-13-345, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT SEPARATE PAPER BALLOTS, VOTING MACHINES, OPTICAL SCANNERS, OR VOTE RECORDERS, AS APPROPRIATE, MUST BE PROVIDED AT THE TIME OF A PRIMARY, GENERAL, OR SPECIAL ELECTION FOR BALLOT QUESTIONS AND ELECTIONS FOR SCHOOL BOARDS AND SCHOOL TRUSTEES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 7-13-345. For any election where there are (1) ballot questions or (2) candidates to be voted on for the office of school board, separate paper ballots, voting machines, optical scanners, or vote recorders, as appropriate, for the purpose of voting on ballot questions and school board candidates must be provided at each polling precinct. These ballots and voting devices must be used for these purposes and no other."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
