A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO FINANCIAL REPORTS AND STATEMENTS (REPEAL), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1994, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The regulations of the State Board of Education, relating to Financial Reports and Statements (Repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 1994, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The repeal of Regulation 43-173, Financial Reports and Statements, will allow the State Board of Education to eliminate unnecessary regulations where possible. This regulation addresses the "public reporting" of financial information and adds that funds for grades 9-12 and vocational centers must be kept in "accurate and systematic form". This regulation is no longer needed. Necessary criteria are cited in amended Regulation 43-172, Accounting and Reporting.
