AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 608 OF 1986, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION FOR MARION COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR NINE COMMISSION MEMBERS INSTEAD OF SEVEN.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Commission increased
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 608 of 1986 is amended to read:
"Section 1. There is created the Registration and Elections Commission for Marion County. There are nine members of the commission who must be appointed by a majority of the Marion County Legislative Delegation, including the resident senators, who are appointed for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the commission may be filled by appointment in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired terms only. The members of the commission shall receive compensation as may be appropriated by the county council."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
