A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING MR. ROLAND WINDHAM ON THE DAY DECLARED "ROLAND WINDHAM DAY" (MONDAY, MAY 26, 1997) BY THE CITY OF AIKEN AND THE COUNTY OF AIKEN, AND COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CIVIC CONTRIBUTIONS.

Whereas, Roland Windham of Aiken County is a gentleman known by countless persons as a man of the highest character and integrity; and

Whereas, he helped to found, and has worked to maintain, the Salvation Army Nancy Moore Thurmond Boys and Girls Club; he has been actively, but always quietly, involved in the economic, political, and social well-being of Aiken and surrounding communities for more than twenty-five years; he has touched many lives by his hard work in his community and has shaped the character of many young people; and

Whereas, we are pleased to have this opportunity to honor such a fine person--a man greatly deserving of recognition and commendation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes Mr. Roland Windham on the day declared "Roland Windham Day" (Monday, May 26, 1997) by the City of Aiken and the County of Aiken and commends him for his outstanding civic contributions.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Salvation Army Nancy Moore Thurmond Boys and Girls Club Advisory Council, in care of Mr. Yul Holloway, Advisory Council Chair, at P. O. Box 439, Aiken, South Carolina, 29802, for presentation to Mr. Windham.
