TO AMEND CHAPTER 3, TITLE 56, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND LICENSING, BY ADDING ARTICLE 28 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL LICENSE PLATES FOR HANDICAPPED PERSONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 56-3-2550. The department may issue a special motor vehicle license plate to a handicapped person as defined in Article 18 of this chapter. Only one license plate may be issued to a person under this article. The application for a special license plate must include proof that the applicant is handicapped. The biennial fee for this special license plate is thirty dollars, in addition to the regular motor vehicle fee contained in Article 5 of this chapter."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
