TO AMEND THE 1976 CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA BY ADDING SECTION 59-1-525 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SHALL PERFORM TEACHER AND ADMINISTRATOR CERTIFICATION SERVICES WITHOUT CHARGE, AND TO DEFINE WHAT CONSTITUTES CERTIFICATION SERVICES FOR PURPOSES OF THIS PROVISION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-1-525. The State Department of Education shall perform teacher and administrator certification services without charge. These certification services include, but are not limited to, initial certification, certification renewal, certificate advancement, additional area certification, out-of-field permits, evaluation, and duplicate certificates."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
