A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-6440, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERSONS AND VEHICLES EXEMPT FROM PROVIDING CHILD PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS, SO AS TO NO LONGER EXEMPT TAXI DRIVERS FROM THIS PROVISION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 56-5-6440 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 56-5-6440. The provisions of this article do not apply to:

(1) Taxi drivers.

(2)(1) drivers of emergency vehicles when operating in an emergency situation.;

(3)(2) church, day care, and school bus drivers.;

(4)(3) public transportation operators.;

(5)(4) commercial vehicles."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
