A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE BERNARD J. WARSHAUER, RETIRED FAMILY COURT JUDGE FROM SUMTER COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the Honorable Bernard J. Warshauer, retired family court judge from Sumter County, died January 31, 1998 at the age of seventy-seven; and

Whereas, Judge Warshauer served on the family court bench from 1973 to 1992; following retirement, he represented Sumter's poor in court for free, and in 1997 he was honored by the South Carolina Bar as Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year; and

Whereas, he was a remarkable individual; he was recognized and admired for his excellent legal mind and abilities; he served Sumter and the State of South Carolina well, and he will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of the Honorable Bernard J. Warshauer, retired family court judge from Sumter County, and extends sympathy to his family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Judge Warshauer's family.
