AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 9-11-140, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH BENEFIT PENSION UNDER THE SOUTH CAROLINA POLICE OFFICERS RETIREMENT SYSTEM, SO AS TO REQUIRE THE BENEFITS PAID UNDER THIS PROGRAM TO BE ADJUSTED TO REFLECT INCREASES IN THE COST OF LIVING IN THE MANNER BENEFIT PAYMENTS UNDER THE SOUTH CAROLINA RETIREMENT SYSTEM ARE SO ADJUSTED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Benefits adjusted
SECTION 1. Section 9-11-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 145 of 1995, is further amended by adding at the end:
Benefits payable under this section must be adjusted to reflect increases in the Consumer Price Index in the manner provided in Section 9-1-1810.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 1998.
