A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING DAVY HITE OF PROSPERITY IN NEWBERRY COUNTY ON EARNING THE BASS ANGLERS SPORTSMAN SOCIETY 1997 ANGLER OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly note with pride that one of South Carolina's own, Mr. Davy Hite of Prosperity in Newberry County, earned the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society 1997 Angler of the Year Award; and

Whereas, this award represents the pinnacle of success for a professional fisherman, achieved after only five years as a full-time professional; and

Whereas, the personable and modest Mr. Hite as a youth honed his fishing skills on the waters of Lake Murray, when from age eleven through high school there were years in which he spent three hundred twenty-five days fishing the lake; and

Whereas, his professional successes include a second place finish in the 1996 Bass Masters Classic, a first place in the 1996 B.A.S.S. Alabama Top 100, a first place finish in the 1994 B.A.S.S. Alabama Invitational, and fifteen top ten finishes; and

Whereas, his early success in his career places him in the elite of the professional angling world and foreshadows even greater achievements in the future; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations to congratulate so accomplished a son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Davy Hite of Prosperity in Newberry County on earning the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society 1997 Angler of the Year Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Davy Hite.
