A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 6-7-15 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A ZONING ORDINANCE OF A MUNICIPALITY OR COUNTY FROM PROHIBITING CHURCH RELATED ACTIVITIES IN A SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 6-7-15. (A) For purposes of this section, 'church related activities' does not include regularly scheduled worship services.

(B) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no zoning ordinance of a municipality or county may prohibit church related activities in a single-family residence."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
