A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE COACHES AND MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ALL-STARS ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR WINNING THE INAUGURAL CAROLINAS CLASSIC BOYS HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAME PLAYED AT ROCK HILL, ON MARCH 29, 1998.

Whereas, teamwork and the cooperative effort by the members of a team to achieve a common goal is absolutely essential to winning in the highly competitive game of basketball; and

Whereas, in addition to natural athletic ability and teamwork skilled coaching and player dedication is also essential to winning, all of which was evident with the South Carolina Boy's High School Basketball All-Star team; and

Whereas, under the outstanding leadership of Coach Chip Atkins, and his able assistant coach, John Smith, and as a result of the competitive spirit, superb teamwork, and sterling performance of each and every member and team player, the winning mix came together for the South Carolina high school boys all-star basketball team with a close 96 - 93 victory over the contending North Carolina boys high school all-star basketball team in the inaugural Carolina Classic high school boys basketball all-star game played March 29, 1998, in Rock Hill; and

Whereas, the winning South Carolina boys all-star team consisted of Rodney McFadden, Julius Flegler, Aaron Lucas, Dustin Braddock, Radgie Leggett, Framecio Little, Roderick Shiver, Travis Robbins, Damien Kinlock, and Marion Talford, and was coached by Chip Atkins and John Smith; and

Whereas, in recognition of the many hours of practice, hard work, dedication, and sacrifice reflecting the South Carolina all-star boy's determination to win in the inaugural game of the classic, the members of the House of Representatives wish to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of boys and their coaches upon their outstanding 96-93 victory over the rival North Carolina boys all-star team. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their heartiest congratulations to the coaches and members of the South Carolina boys high school basketball all-stars on the occasion of their winning the inaugural Carolinas Classic Boys Basketball All-Star game played at Rock Hill, March 29, 1998.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the South Carolina Boys High School All-Star basketball team.
