A JOINT RESOLUTION

PROVIDING A ONE-TIME SIX-MONTH PERIOD FOR A MEMBER OF ONE OF THE VARIOUS STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEMS WHO HAS ESTABLISHED CREDIT IN THE SYSTEM FOR PRIOR SERVICE TO ESTABLISH ANY ADDITIONAL SERVICE CREDIT THE MEMBER WOULD BE ALLOWED TO ESTABLISH BUT FOR THE SINGLE PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a member of one of the state retirement systems provided in Title 9 of the 1976 Code, who has established service credit in the system for prior service and who would be eligible to establish additional service credit for prior service but for the requirement for a single payment for such service, may nevertheless establish the additional service in the manner provided by law upon application therefor within six months of the effective date of this joint resolution.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect on the first day of the second month following approval by the Governor.
