TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-3-112 SO AS TO REQUIRE ALL VEHICLES TO HAVE A STANDARD STATE LICENSE PLATE ON THE REAR BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE AND TO PROVIDE THAT SPECIAL AND COMMEMORATIVE LICENSE PLATES MAY BE PLACED ONLY ON THE FRONT BUMPER OF A VEHICLE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-3-112. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, all vehicles required to be licensed pursuant to this chapter must have a standard state license plate on the rear bumper of the vehicle, and special and commemorative license plates authorized pursuant to this chapter may be placed only on the front bumper of a vehicle.
For purposes of this section, 'standard state license plate' means the license plate issued by the Department of Transportation for all passenger vehicles and light weight pickup trucks at the regular fee for those vehicles."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
