TO AMEND SECTION 2-1-65, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO ELECTION DISTRICTS FROM WHICH MEMBERS OF THE SENATE ARE ELECTED BEGINNING IN 1996, SO AS TO REVISE CERTAIN OF THESE DISTRICTS, TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF THE SENATE AS APPROPRIATE SHALL BE ELECTED FROM EACH OF THESE ELECTION DISTRICTS SO REVISED AT A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE CONDUCTED IN NOVEMBER, 1997, AS ESTABLISHED IN ACT 1 OF 1997, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE TERM OF OFFICES OF SUCH MEMBERS ELECTED IN 1997; AND TO DESIGNATE THE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE SENATE AS THE SUBMITTING AUTHORITY FOR MAKING THE REQUIRED SUBMISSION OF THE ELECTION DISTRICT REVISIONS CONTAINED IN THIS ACT TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE UNDER THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT.
