A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE FAMILY AND COUNTLESS FRIENDS OF ONE OF THIS STATE'S MOST PROMINENT AND RESPECTED VETERINARIANS, DR. JOHN MICHAEL BOLINGER OF GAFFNEY, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply stunned and saddened to learn of the death Dr. John Michael Bolinger, on Thursday, January 13, 2000, at the young age of fifty-eight; and

Whereas, John Michael Bolinger was a native of Cumberland, Maryland, son of the late Edgar Dare Bolinger and the late Rina Morrison Bolinger; and

Whereas, he attended Wofford College and graduated from the University of Georgia Veterinary School; and

Whereas, Dr. Bolinger was the owner and operator of Gaffney Animal Hospital; and

Whereas, Dr. Bolinger was a Rotarian and a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, Dr. Bolinger was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He was a highly respected veterinarian and served on the Board of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians; and

Whereas, he is survived by four daughters, Jara Jones of Greer; Joy DuBose of Georgetown, Dr. Jony Margrit Bolinger of Easley, and Ann Hartsell of Simpsonville; one son, John Michael Bolinger, Jr., of Clemson; step-son, James Young of Conway; step-daughter, Margaret Hines of Greenwood; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Lou Jones of Greenville, Jean Knox of Mauldin, and Judy Bolinger Fessenden of San Rafael, California; and

Whereas, with the death of this fine man, the citizens of Gaffney, Cherokee County, and the Palmetto State have suffered a tremendous loss which will be felt for years to come; and

Whereas, we express appreciation for Dr. John Michael Bolinger's life and his accomplishments and dedication will live long in our memory. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow to the family and countless friends of one of this State's most prominent and respected veterinarians, Dr. John Michael Bolinger of Gaffney, South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Dr. John Michael Bolinger.
