A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE BATESBURG-LEESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS ON WINNING THE 1999 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN FOOTBALL.

Whereas, the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panthers won the 1999 Class AA state football championship by defeating the Ninety-Six Wildcats 24-14; and

Whereas, this game marked the Panthers' second state championship since 1995 and their fourth visit to a state championship game in eight years; and

Whereas, the Panthers have won five Class AA region championships; and

Whereas, this dynamic victory was the end of a 14-1 season for the forty-one Panthers under the leadership of Head Coach Phil Strickland; and

Whereas, the rest of the Panthers' coaching staff includes Heyward Bouknight, Joe Barr, Courtney McInnis, Robb Streeter and Shane Bryant; and

Whereas, the team's victory can also be credited to the support of many others including the team managers, Principal Pat Padgett, the faculty and staff and of all the fans of Batesburg-Leesville; and

Whereas, the Panthers' achievement is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
