COMMENDING DR. GILBERT HUNT, PROFESSOR OF EDUCATION AT COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING TEACHING AND THE GREAT IMPACT HE IS HAVING ON THE LIVES AND CAREERS OF HIS STUDENTS.

Whereas, Dr. Gilbert Hunt is professor of education at Coastal Carolina University; and

Whereas, he has collaborated with others at Coastal on a textbook for beginning middle school teachers and for undergraduates training to become middle school teachers; the textbook, The Middle Level Teachers' Handbook: Becoming a Reflective Practitioner, was published in April 1998 and is to be distributed internationally; and

Whereas, Dr. Hunt is an excellent, highly regarded professor; he has shaped and molded his students into good teachers who are excited about their careers and futures; one of his former students at Coastal Carolina has stated that Dr. Hunt is "able to keep students interested and [is] excited about teaching others. He [wants] all his students to learn to be enthusiastic teachers."; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives feel strongly that Dr. Hunt is greatly deserving of recognition for his contributions to and accomplishments in the profession of education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Dr. Gilbert Hunt, professor of education at Coastal Carolina University, for his outstanding teaching and the great impact he is having on the lives and careers of his students.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Gilbert Hunt at Coastal Carolina University.
