Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 8-11-80 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 8-11-80. The Comptroller General may, upon request of employees of the State, may make deductions from the compensation of the employees for the payment of premiums for life, hospital, prepaid legal and other types of insurance plans as are in force and a member of the deduction system on the effective date of this act.
