TO CONGRATULATE THE J. L. MANN HIGH SCHOOL PATRIOTS SOCCER TEAM OF GREENVILLE ON WINNING THE 1999 CLASS AAA BOYS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, J. L. Mann High School seized the 1999 Class AAA boys soccer title in an exciting 1-0 victory over Dreher High School capturing the first state championship for the Patriot soccer program; and

Whereas, the Patriots, endowed with superb talent and athleticism, demonstrated outstanding team unity, determination, and commitment to succeed as a team with an impressive 22-3 record overall; and

Whereas, this fine group of players is composed of: Rob Smith, Alexis Gabela, Clark Grounsell, John Schneider, George Burdette, Thomas Conroy, Josh Shugart, Cole Stamm, Tate Motts, Rocky Brown, Tyler Cox, Michael Burns, Graham Callaway, London Boyd, and Josh Smith; and

Whereas, this outstanding level of competition and excellence could not have been accomplished without the leadership and guidance of coaches Bill Linn and Matt Kirk, the support of the Athletic Director, Deb Osborne, and the encouragement and enthusiasm of Principal, W. Fred Crawford; and

Whereas, in recognition of the many hours of practice, hard work, dedication, and sacrifice reflected in achieving this victorious state championship, the members of the General Assembly wish to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of athletes, their coaches, athletic director, and principal for this memorable season and record-setting championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the J. L. Mann High School Patriots soccer team of Greenville on winning the 1999 Class AAA Boys State Championship

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the J. L. Mann High School Patriots Soccer Team, Bill Linn, Matt Kirk, W. Fred Crawford, and Deb Osborne.
