A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

WELCOMING DR. IRA V. HILLIARD, PASTOR OF NEW LIGHT CHRISTIAN CENTER CHURCH IN HOUSTON, TEXAS, AND HIS WIFE, DR. BRIDGET HILLIARD, TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND WISHING BOTH OF THEM WELL AS THEY CONDUCT A STATEWIDE CONFERENCE FOR PASTORS AND THEIR CONGREGATIONS HOSTED BY THE FULL GOSPEL WORD AND WORSHIP CENTER IN THE CITY OF COLUMBIA FROM AUGUST 18-20, 1999.

Whereas, the New Light Christian Center Church was founded in Houston, Texas, by Dr. Ira V. Hilliard in 1984 with approximately twenty-three members; and

Whereas, today, Dr. Hilliard's congregation numbers in excess of fourteen thousand members, and is increasing at a rate of between four hundred and five hundred new members every month; and

Whereas, the central theme of his ministry is to build people of Purpose, Power, and Praise; and

Whereas, this mandate is being fulfilled through every ministry undertaken by the New Light Christian Center Church; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to welcome Dr. Ira V. Hilliard and his wife, Dr. Bridget Hilliard, two distinguished ministers of the Word of God to our State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That, by this resolution, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly welcome Dr. Ira V. Hilliard, Pastor of New Light Christian Center Church of Houston, Texas, and his wife, Dr. Bridget Hilliard, to South Carolina, and wish both of them well in their stay as they conduct a statewide conference for pastors and their congregations hosted by the Full Gospel Work and Worship Center in the City of Columbia from August 18-20, 1999.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to

Drs. Ira V. and Bridget Hilliard.
