A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO BENJAMIN CURTIS DUNBAR, OF UNION, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON ATTAINING THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD, THE HIGHEST AND MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR A BOY SCOUT MAY RECEIVE.

Whereas, Benjamin Dunbar received his Eagle Scout Award on December 26, 1999. He is a member of Grace Methodist Church's Troop 42 in Union; and

Whereas, this is a superb accomplishment, because some statistics indicate only three out of every two hundred young men achieve this goal; and

Whereas, Benjamin's Eagle Project was the building of a walking and nature trail for Grace Church and the citizens of Union County; and

Whereas, in order for this project to be successful, Benjamin initially had to raise the funds for the trail, obtain all the necessary easements, and direct construction of the trail by the other Scouts of Troop 42; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis M. Dunbar are the proud parents of Benjamin Dunbar; and

Whereas, Benjamin is a Sophomore at Union High School and is active in the National Art Honor Society and a letterman in both academics and soccer; and

Whereas, Benjamin is an outstanding individual in every way -- eager to learn and willing to accept challenges and refuses to let adversity deter his ambitions; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, are pleased to salute this fine young man and look forward to hearing of his other accomplishments in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina express their congratulations to Benjamin Curtis Dunbar, of Union, South Carolina, upon attaining the Eagle Scout Award, the highest and most distinguished honor a Boy Scout may receive.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Benjamin Curtis Dunbar.
