Whereas, Deacon Floyd Gordon, Sr., is the son of Deacon and Mrs. A. P. Gordon; and

Whereas, he is the devoted husband to Deaconess Dorothy Mcquilles Gordon, and together they are the proud parents of three children and have three grandchildren; and

Whereas, Deacon Gordon is a graduate of C. A. Johnson High School and served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army; and

Whereas, for many years he served as President of Gordon Plastering Company; and

Whereas, in recognition of his successes as a businessman, in 1979, Howard University in Washington, D.C., presented Deacon Gordon with their Minority Business Certificate; and

Whereas, he has distinguished himself as Chairman of the Richland County Election Commission, and has been a dedicated member of: the TN Development Board; City of Columbia Plumbers Board; City of Columbia Zoning Board; Chamber of Commerce; South Carolina Marine Commission; Association of General Contractors; Jones McDonald Community Organization; and St. Lawrence Place; and

Whereas, Deacon Gordon has served as Chairman of New Ebenezer Baptist Church Deacon Board for more than thirty years, and during this period he has played an instrumental role in the Church's acquisition of land and the construction of a new sanctuary and education resource center; and
