A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE COMMUNITIES OF THE BOILING SPRINGS AREA FOR THEIR LONGSTANDING PARTNERSHIP IN EXCELLENCE WITH BOILING SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL WHICH HAS BEEN HONORED BY RECEIVING THE CAROLINA FIRST PALMETTO'S FINEST AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2000.

Whereas, Boiling Springs High School of Spartanburg School District Two was chosen from all of South Carolina's secondary schools to be honored with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award for the year 2000; and

Whereas, Carolina First Bank and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators honor two elementary schools, one middle school, and one secondary school each year with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award in recognition of excellence in student achievement, faculty training, administration, and community involvement; and

Whereas, no high school can achieve such success in a vacuum, and any high level of achievement in a school setting is a clear indication that the honored school is fortunate enough to be located in a larger community which obviously values, nurtures, and takes pride in education; and

Whereas, the community of Boiling Springs and the surrounding areas have been loyal and enthusiastic in their support of Boiling Springs High School, and have, in turn, enjoyed the benefits of the knowledgeable, civic-minded young people which the high school sends out into the community each year; and

Whereas, the citation of Boiling Springs High School as a Palmetto's Finest institution is truly an honor that extends beyond the boundaries of the school campus and speaks well of the surrounding neighborhoods, businesses, churches, governments, and civic organizations. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the communities of the Boiling Springs area for their longstanding partnership in excellence with Boiling Springs High School which has been honored by receiving the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award for the year 2000.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Community of Boiling Springs in care of the Honorable Jeffrey Horton, Spartanburg County Councilman representing the Boiling Springs Community.
