A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE FAMILY OF MR. DOLPHIS "JACKIE" HALL OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Dolphis "Jackie" Hall of Lexington County on April 17, 2000; and

Whereas, he was born on October 25, 1912, the son of the late Mr. George Hall and Mrs. Lucious Livingston Hall; and

Whereas, Mr. Hall attended the Public Schools of Lexington County; and

Whereas, he joined Bethel Methodist Church, which is presently New Light United Methodist Church, at an early age where he served as a trustee and a Sunday School teacher; and

Whereas, on November 16, 1932, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Inez Rumph, his loving wife of sixty-seven years; and

Whereas, to this union nine children were born; and

Whereas, Mr. Hall was active in numerous community and civic organizations which included serving as: an Assistant School Board Trustee for Lexington County School District Four; a key member of Lexington County School District Four's school integration movement as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); one of the original members of the Swansea, South Carolina, branch of the NAACP; and a member of the Jericho Lodge #74; and

Whereas, he was a retired farmer who enjoyed caring for horses in his leisure time; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their sincere condolences to his wife, children, and other members of his family upon the death of this outstanding community leader. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Dolphis "Jackie" Hall of Lexington County, upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Inez Rumph Hall.
