TO COMMEND MR. FERDINAND PEARSON OF CLARENDON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THE FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE MANNING BRANCH OF THE NAACP ON MARCH 6, 1999, AND TO RECOGNIZE HIS CONTRIBUTIONS AS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE MANNING BRANCH OF THE NAACP.
Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the South Carolina Senate that the Manning Branch of the NAACP will celebrate its Fortieth Anniversary on March 6, 1999; and
Whereas, Mr. Ferdinand Pearson has unselfishly contributed toward the success of this organization; and
Whereas, Mr. Pearson was instrumental in the integration of the public schools in Clarendon County; and
Whereas, Ferdinand Pearson is a retired Fort Jackson Civil Service employee; and
Whereas, he has been a loving and devoted husband and father for over fifty years; and
Whereas, he has balanced his private life as a successful farmer with his very active and influential participation in Clarendon County politics; and
Whereas, without individuals like Ferdinand Pearson, African American concerns would not be brought to the forefront and dealt with in a positive and forthright manner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate commend Mr. Ferdinand Pearson of Clarendon County on the occasion of the Fortieth Anniversary Celebration of the Manning Branch of the NAACP on March 6, 1999, and recognize his contributions as a charter member of the Manning Branch of the NAACP.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Ferdinand Pearson.
