A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR MRS. MARY M. LAW FOR HER 41 YEARS OF DEDICATED, LOYAL SERVICE TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND LAND SURVEYORS.

Whereas, Mrs. Mary M. Law served both the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors from 1957 to 1960; and

Whereas, Mrs. Law was named Executive Director of the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in July 1960, her original title there having been Assistant Executive Secretary; and

Whereas, Mrs. Law has served on at least fifteen National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying committees and has been a repository of historical information for both the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; and

Whereas, Mrs. Law has appeared frequently before legislative committees to provide background information for proposed legislation and has worked diligently to promote engineering and land surveying statutes and regulations for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare and the advancement of the professional practice of engineering and land surveying; and

Whereas, Mrs. Law, on December 31, 1998, completed 41 years of service to the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, which is a division of the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation; and

Whereas, Mrs. Law is held in high esteem by members of the engineering and land surveying communities both in South Carolina and throughout the United States; and

Whereas, through her efforts, South Carolina is regarded as a model state for regulation of the engineering and land surveying professions; and

Whereas, through her skills, the South Carolina Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors has become known as an efficient and responsive board; and

Whereas, in her years as Executive Director, the Board has had a high morale and a low turnover rate among its employees. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize the dedicated years of service shown by Mrs. Mary M. Law to the State of South Carolina and congratulate her for her many professional and personal successes during that time period.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Mary M. Law.
