A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE WILSON CASEY OF SPARTANBURG, HOLDER OF THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS FOR THE LONGEST RADIO BROADCAST BY AN INDIVIDUAL AND THE LONGEST TRIVIA BROADCAST, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM AFTER FINISHING A MARATHON THIRTY-HOUR BROADCAST AT SPARTANBURG RADIO STATION WKDY-AM AND BECOMING THE ONLY SOUTH CAROLINIAN TO APPEAR IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS.

Whereas, the Guinness Book of Records, formerly the Guinness Book of World Records, is part of a global phenomenon wherein unusual achievements of many kinds occurring in and collected from many countries and world records set around the world are recorded for posterity; and

Whereas, at six o'clock a.m., on Sunday, June 13, 1999, Wilson Casey of Spartanburg, known as "Trivia Guy", finished a marathon broadcast after thirty hours on the air at Spartanburg radio station WKDY-AM; and

Whereas, in recognition of his marathon broadcast, Wilson Casey will be entered into the Guinness Book of Records for the longest radio broadcast by an individual and the longest trivia broadcast, making him the only South Carolinian to appear in the book. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize Wilson Casey of Spartanburg, holder of the Guinness world records for the longest radio broadcast by an individual and the longest trivia broadcast, and congratulate him after finishing a marathon thirty-hour broadcast at Spartanburg radio station WKDY-AM and becoming the only South Carolinian to appear in the Guinness Book Of Records.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Wilson Casey of Spartanburg.
