Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

Our Father God, the Source of all wisdom and the Giver of all blessings, keep always before us the brightness of Your truths that we may walk and work in the path of uprightness. Take from us all sounds that would keep us from hearing Your voice. And hearing that voice, give us the ability to obey it. May Your will be done in us and by us, this day and always. Amen.
