TO AMEND SECTION 50-13-1180 OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PROHIBITIONS REGARDING TROTLINES, SO AS TO REQUIRE THAT TROTLINE HOOKS USED IN LAKES MARION AND MOULTRIE MUST, IN ADDITION TO OTHER REQUIREMENTS, BE CAPABLE OF BEING PASSED THROUGH A THREE-INCH-LONG CYLINDER WITH A ONE-HALF INCH INSIDE DIAMETER, AND TO AMEND SECTION 50-13-1192, RELATING TO NONGAME FISHING DEVICES, SO AS TO RESTRICT FROM TWO TO ONE THOUSAND THE NUMBER OF TROTLINE HOOKS THAT MAY BE USED WITH A COMMERCIAL FISHING LICENSE AND TO REQUIRE THAT THESE HOOKS BE CAPABLE OF BEING PASSED THROUGH A THREE-INCH CYLINDER WITH AN INSIDE DIAMETER OF ONE-HALF INCH.
Amend Title To Conform
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 50-13-1180(F) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(F) Trotline hooks used in Lakes Marion and Moultrie must have a gap or clearance between point and shank no greater than seven-sixteenths inch and must pass through a three-inch-long cylinder with an inside diameter of one-half inch."
SECTION 2. Section 50-13-1192(34)(b) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(b) trotlines: two thousand hooks maximum with commercial license. Hooks must have a gap or clearance between point and shank no greater than seven-sixteenths inch and must pass through a three-inch-long cylinder with an inside diameter of one-half inch;"
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
