A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-27, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO HUNTING MIGRATORY WATERFOWL ON LAKE MURRAY, SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE HUNTING OF MIGRATORY WATERFOWL, WITH OR WITHOUT THE LAND OWNER'S PERMISSION, WITHIN A FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY YARD RADIUS OF ANY LAND BORDERING THE WATERS OF LAKE MURRAY ON THE PORTION OF LAKE MURRAY LYING WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF RICHLAND COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 50-11-27 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 50-11-27. It is unlawful to hunt migratory waterfowl on Lake Murray within two hundred yards of a dwelling without written permission of the owner and occupant. For the portion of Lake Murray lying within the boundaries of Richland County, it is unlawful to hunt migratory waterfowl within a four hundred fifty yard radius of a dwelling or any land bordering the waters of Lake Murray with or without permission of the owner or occupant. As used in this section, Lake Murray includes the area from Lake Murray Dam to one-half mile upstream of Harmon's Bridge on Secondary Road 41-44 and upstream to Kempson's Ferry Bridge on Highway 395. A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
