A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO EDUCATION PROGRAMS, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2388, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to education programs, designated as Regulation Document Number 2388, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED

BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The State Board of Education promulgated amendments to sub-regulation 43-51.2, Education Programs. The regulation will clarifies requirements for those individuals seeking a teaching certificate in South Carolina. The amended regulation:

(1) specifies the requirement for a complete application and FBI fingerprint review;

(2) specifies the level of acceptable accreditation for an out-of-state approved teacher education program;

(3) clarifies the areas allowed for out-of-state applicants;

(4) eliminates redundancy and maintains consistency in the certification requirements;

(5) specifies the type of certificate appropriate for Critical Needs Teacher Preparation.
