REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO READING, WRITING, AND MATHEMATICS OBJECTIVES FOR GRADES 1-12, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2369, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to reading, writing, and mathematics objectives for grades 1-12, designated as Regulation Document Number 2369, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED

BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

The State Board of Education promulgated amendments to Regulation 43-262.3, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Objectives for grades 1-12. The regulation deletes objectives for grades 1-8, which have been replaced by State Board of Education approved standards. The objectives were necessary for the BSAP test for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8. Those tests have been replaced by a new statewide testing program.
