A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND RICK DANIEL OF IRMO FOR HIS EFFORTS TO ENSURE THAT FUTURE GENERATIONS OF SOUTH CAROLINIANS WILL ENJOY THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BARE ARMS THROUGH HIS SUPPORT OF RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERSHIP AND GUN SAFETY LEGISLATION AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR BEING CHOSEN AS ONE OF THE FIRST RECIPIENTS OF THE FREEDOM FIRST MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, Rick Daniel became a proud member of the National Rifle Association when he was nineteen years old and has since then encouraged countless others to join the organization and help protect the right of Americans to keep and bare arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution; and

Whereas, he served six terms as president of Gun Owners of South Carolina, the National Rifle Association state affiliate, and currently serves as its director of public affairs, and he serves as the National Rifle Association Election Volunteer Coordinator for the Second Congressional District, as he has since the start of the Election Volunteer Coordinator program and is the liaison for all six South Carolina Election Volunteer Coordinators; and

Whereas, he has worked hard to recruit volunteers for state and national campaigns and raised thousand of dollars for National Rifle Association programs in South Carolina and Rick co-founded the Mid-Carolina Friends of the National Rifle Association Committee, is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor, an NRA "Refuse to be a Victim" Instructor, and Rick teaches the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program at schools and churches; and

Whereas, Rick Daniel has made effective use of his talents and experience by helping to produce legislation relating to concealed weapons, range protection, and firearms lawsuit preemption and has been praised by state leaders for his invaluable service to the South Carolina General Assembly in firearm related issues; and

Whereas, he resides in Irmo, South Carolina, with his wife Esther, and daughters Heather and Kara, and Rick continues to stand strong in his belief that Americans should be allowed to exercise their right to gun ownership as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives,

That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commends Rick Daniel of Irmo for his efforts to ensure that future generations of South Carolinians will enjoy the right to keep and bare arms through his support of responsible gun ownership and gun safety legislation and congratulates him for being chosen as one of the first recipients of Freedom First Member of the Year Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be delivered to Mr. Daniel.
