A BILL

TO AMEND ARTICLE 3, CHAPTER 3, TITLE 54, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE PORTS AUTHORITY, BY ADDING SECTION 54-3-270 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE USE OF PUBLIC FUNDS BY THE AUTHORITY FOR LOBBYING, PUBLIC RELATIONS, ADVERTISING, OR OTHER MARKETING EFFORTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE PURSUIT OF AN EXPANSION OF ITS FACILITIES ON DANIEL ISLAND.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 3, Chapter 3, Title 54 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 54-3-270.    The authority may not expend public funds for lobbying, public relations, advertising, or other marketing efforts in connection with its pursuit of a facility or an expansion of its facilities on Daniel Island."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
