TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE MATT RHOTON OF THE HOPEWELL FIRE DEPARTMENT UPON BEING NAMED ANDERSON COUNTY FIREMAN OF THE YEAR FOR 2000.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that Matt Rhoton of the Hopewell Fire Department in Anderson County has been named Anderson County Firefighter of the Year for 2000; and
Whereas, this outstanding young man has only been a volunteer firefighter for three years, but he is a great example of what a person can achieve with dedication, education, and commitment; and
Whereas, he has become certified in several difficult courses and undergone extensive training while at the same time achieving an outstanding academic record at Erskine College where he is a student; and
Whereas, he is always helping out around his station in activities such as inventory, hose testing, station clean up, maintenance and cleaning trucks. He was able to make one hundred eight calls out of a total one hundred fifty-eight and attend forty-five meetings out of a total of fifty and also volunteers for the Due West Fire Department; and
Whereas, Matt Rhoton is an example of what all volunteer firefighters can become, and the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize him upon his receipt of this truly deserved award. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize and congratulate Matt Rhoton of the Hopewell Fire Department upon being named Anderson County Fireman of the Year for 2000.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Matt Rhoton.
