A HOUSE RESOLUTION

EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. AND MRS. J. P. BARFIELD OF NORTH CHARLESTON ON THE JOYOUS OCCASION OF THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND EXPRESSING BEST WISHES TO THE BARFIELDS FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS TOGETHER.

Whereas, J. P. (Joe) Barfield and Kitty Barfield of North Charleston were married on March 20, 1951; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Barfield celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 18, 2001, with their children, grandchildren, great grandchild, friends, and honored guests. This memorable celebration included a program and reception full of special memories; and

Whereas, the Barfields have four children, Ricky and his wife, Kathi, Ed and his wife, Dawn, Donnie and his wife, Tammy, and Butch and his wife, Laurie; and

Whereas, the Barfields also have ten grandchildren and one great grandson; and

Whereas, J. P. and Kitty are a loving and much-loved couple; they are respected and admired throughout the community. Kitty is a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for North Charleston. She is an active volunteer working for the good of the city. J. P. is also well known in the community for his dedication to coaching in youth sports leagues. Their sons have followed in their dad's footsteps as they are all active in coaching youth soccer, baseball, and football teams; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Barfield have reached a milestone in their marriage; the commemoration of the half-century mark in a marriage is an occasion of joy and celebration, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and honor them in this special manner. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, extends congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Barfield of North Charleston on the joyous occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and expresses heartfelt best wishes to the Barfields for many more years of happiness together.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to J. P. and Kitty Barfield.
