A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MRS. VICKY G. HORNE, LEXINGTON AND RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT FIVE'S TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR 2000-2001, AND CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING SELECTED AS ONE OF FIVE FINALISTS FOR THE SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, Vicky G. Horne teaches sixth grade language arts at Crossroads Middle School in Lexington and Richland School District Five. She has taught for twenty-four years; and

Whereas, Mrs. Horne is originally from Olanta in Florence County. She and her husband, John, have two sons, John and Brent; and

Whereas, her passion for teaching earned her the title of Teacher of the Year for the district. She was then selected as one of five finalists for the state title from more than eighty entries statewide; and

Whereas, she is very passionate and energetic about her profession. Mrs. Horne teaches language arts with a creativity and skill that reaches each one of her students; and

Whereas, her experience and resourcefulness make Mrs. Horne a mentor to her fellow teachers. She is a teacher's teacher and supports her peers with her mind, enthusiasm, and her heart; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives proudly recognize Mrs. Horne as an exemplar teacher and express their thanks that she excels at her chosen profession. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Vicky G. Horne, Lexington and Richland School District Five's Teacher of the Year for 2001-2001, and congratulate her for being selected as one of five finalists for the South Carolina Teacher of the Year Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Vicky G. Horne.
