A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE LOUIS RICH COMPANY OF NEWBERRY FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO FOOD SAFETY AND THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS THAT ARE DISTRIBUTED WORLDWIDE.

Whereas, the citizens of South Carolina and the people of our great nation see food safety as a top priority for our nation's food suppliers; and

Whereas, one of South Carolina's own major food producers to the world has taken a lead in the initiative to build consumer confidence in food safety and in the quality of food products; and

Whereas, since 1993 Louis Rich Company capital spending has exceeded $61,163,000 and this capital spending, in turn, has created jobs and resulted in positive economic development in this State; and

Whereas, with one thousand five hundred nineteen salaried and hourly employees, Louis Rich Company is the largest employer in Newberry County as well as a leader in food safety. Louis Rich Company is also a major employer of South Carolina citizens, not only in Newberry County, but in surrounding counties and the upper Midlands area; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly recognize the vital role played by Louis Rich Company in this state's economy, and also recognize the importance of this company and the poultry industry in this State as a whole to the people of South Carolina, and take this opportunity to recognize the Louis Rich Company as both a positive and necessary component of the economy and the future of our great State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Louis Rich Company of Newberry for its commitment to food safety and the enhancement of the quality of their products that are distributed worldwide.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Louis Rich Company of Newberry, and to the public and the press.
