A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SINCERELY THANK DR. SHARON RISINGER FOR HER MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE AS A PHYSICIAN AND EDUCATOR AND TO COMMEND HER FOR ALL HER EFFORTS TO IMPROVE PRIMARY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Dr. Sharon Risinger is the epitome of a skilled, dedicated, and outstanding health care provider and medical director and has demonstrated a level of excellence that sets her apart from the average community health center provider; and

Whereas, Dr. Risinger is a staunch advocate for community health center populations, especially those high-risk individuals including the homeless, HIV patients, and those suffering from mental illness; and

Whereas, Dr. Risinger has demonstrated tremendous leadership and effective clinical management while at the same time providing excellent, comprehensive, and caring health care services to her patients; and

Whereas, Sharon Risinger began her community health center career as a part-time care provider in May of 1992; in 1993, she began working full time and accepted the position of Medical Director and since then has increased the health care staff to a total of seven providers, including an infectious disease physician and a licensed addiction counselor; and

Whereas, Dr. Sharon Risinger is also committed to improving primary care education in South Carolina, working numerous hours with nurse practitioner students and teaching residents. She has been recognized many times for the role she plays in educating nursing and medical students and internal medicine residents; and

Whereas, Dr. Risinger has established a network of specialty care providers in the private medical community who gladly provide health care to both insured and uninsured patients without hesitation; through her efforts a working relationship has been built between health center providers and private community providers that will ensure that community health center patients receive quality health care at the lowest possible cost; and

Whereas, Dr. Sharon Risinger is regarded by patients and colleagues as one of the finest primary and mental health care providers in the State, and all South Carolinians are truly blessed to have such a remarkable woman living and working in the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, sincerely thank Dr. Sharon Risinger for her many years of dedicated leadership and service as a physician and educator and commend her for all her efforts to improve primary and community health care in South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Sharon Risinger.
