TO AMEND CHAPTER 21, TITLE 50, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO EQUIPMENT AND OPERATION OF WATERCRAFT, BY ADDING SECTION 50-21-131, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR A NO WAKE ZONE ON A PORTION OF THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY NEAR THE ISLE OF PALMS IN CHARLESTON COUNTY AND TO PROVIDE FOR CERTAIN TIMES AND DATES WHEN THE NO WAKE ZONE IS IN EFFECT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 21, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-21-131. There is established a special no wake zone on that portion of the Intracoastal Waterway in Charleston County beginning at the sign posted approximately one hundred yards east of the Isle of Palms Connector Bridge in the vicinity of statute mile 459 and extending to the sign posted approximately one hundred yards southwest of the northern most intersection of Morgan Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway in the vicinity of Intracoastal Waterway marker 115. This zone is in effect at all times for boats twenty-five feet or larger. For all other boats this no wake zone is in effect from eleven o'clock a. m. until one hour before sunset on those Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays falling on or within May first and September thirtieth of each year. The boundaries, times, and dates when this no wake zone is in effect must be clearly marked with signs designed and installed as specified by the department."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
