A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING HEARTFELT APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MESSRS. ARTHUR STRICKLAND AND JOE NICHOLSON OF FLORENCE, PRODUCERS OF THE TELEVISION PROGRAM "CAROLINAS MOST WANTED" AND WISHING THE PROGRAM CONTINUING SUCCESS IN THE CAUSE OF BRINGING CRIMINALS TO JUSTICE.

Whereas, the television program "Carolinas Most Wanted" was created in Florence nearly nine years ago and has remained on the air since that time; and

Whereas, Mr. Arthur Strickland and Mr. Joe Nicholson have produced and aired the program throughout it's entire nine-year history; and

Whereas, "Carolinas Most Wanted" has grown from a three-county endeavor to include major portions of North and South Carolina; and

Whereas, "Carolinas Most Wanted" has created a unique partnership between Crimestoppers volunteers, law enforcement agencies in both Carolinas, the broadcast industry, and viewers throughout the WBTW coverage area; and

Whereas, "Carolinas Most Wanted" provides a unique opportunity for citizen participation in the identification and apprehension of wanted criminals; and

Whereas, Crimestoppers volunteers go into the field to film and create reenactments of major crimes to better illustrate the incidents and foster viewer participation; and

Whereas, "Carolinas Most Wanted" has become an invaluable tool for a variety of law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals Service, police departments and sheriff's offices, the FBI, agents of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, and a variety of other agencies; and

Whereas, the efforts of these two men have created a working tool for law enforcement that does not exist on the state level anywhere else; and

Whereas, the impact of "Carolinas Most Wanted" on WBTW Television has grown in scope and effectiveness until it now accounts for three hundred or more arrests each year; and during the course of its nine-year history, more than a thousand fugitives have been brought to justice; and

Whereas, "Carolinas Most Wanted" has been honored with various awards and commendations from state and local government; and

Whereas, Messrs. Arthur Strickland and Joe Nicholson continue to produce a program in Florence that grows in scope and impact each year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their heartfelt appreciation to Messrs. Arthur Strickland and Joe Nicholson of Florence, producers of the television program "Carolinas Most Wanted" and wish for the program continuing success in the cause of bringing criminals to justice.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Messrs. Arthur Strickland and Joe Nicholson.
