    To whom was referred a Bill (S. 118), to amend Act 191 of 1971, as amended, relating to the Williamsburg County Recreation District, so as to transfer to the county governing body the authority to appoint Commission members, etc., respectfully

A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 191 OF 1971, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY RECREATION DISTRICT, SO AS TO TRANSFER TO THE COUNTY GOVERNING BODY THE AUTHORITY TO APPOINT COMMISSION MEMBERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 4 of Act 191 of 1971, as amended by Act 246 of 1975 and Act 381 of 1977, is further amended to read:

    "Section 4.    The district shall be governed by a nine member commission appointed by the Governor upon recommendation of the resident members of the county legislative delegation county governing body for terms of five years and until their successors are appointed and quality. A vacancy on the commission shall be filled in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired term.

    The commission shall organize by electing one of its number as chairman, a second as vice chairman and a third as secretary. The officers of the commission shall hold office for terms of one year and until their successors are elected. It shall be the duty of the commission to furnish a record of the appointees and their terms to the clerk of court to be filed in his office. No member of the commission shall receive any compensation for his services as a member of the commission."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
