COMMITTEE REPORT
March 7, 2001
S. 205
S. Printed 3/7/01--S. [SEC 3/8/01 2:01 PM]
Read the first time January 24, 2001.
To whom was referred a Bill (S. 205) to amend Section 1-31-20, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the meetings of the Minority Affairs Commission, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:
GLENN F. McCONNELL, for Committee.
EXPLANATION OF IMPACT:
The Commission indicates that implementation of this bill would result in a savings to the General Fund of the State. Based on current law, the Commission on Minority Affairs is required to meet monthly. Assuming all members of the commission had been appointed and attended each meeting, members would have been eligible for per diem totaling $2940. If this Bill is enacted and all
members of the commission receive the per diem to which they are entitled, the total payout would be $980. The annual savings totals $1960.
