A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 39-1-55 SO AS TO PROVIDE ANY MATTRESS SOLD BY A RETAILER WHICH IS RETURNED BY A CUSTOMER DURING A WARRANTY OR TRIAL PERIOD MUST BE SANITIZED AND POSTED AS A USED MATTRESS BEFORE IT MAY BE RESOLD BY THE RETAILER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 1, Title 39 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 39-1-55.    Any mattress sold by a retailer which is returned by a customer during a warranty or trial period must be sanitized and posted as a used mattress before it may be resold by the retailer."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
